Make a Global Component Local

Follow these steps to make a Global component local:

  1. In the Global tab of the Automation Component tray, right-click the component you want to make Local. To make multiple components Local at once, press Ctrl+A to select all components or select a consecutive group of all components by clicking the first item, pressing and holding-down Shift, and then clicking the last item.

  2. Select the Make Local option.

  3. If the selected component is used in automations other than where it is stored, a confirmation message is issued listing the automations that will be broken by making the component Local. Click Yes in the confirmation message if you are sure you want to make the component Local.

  4. The selected component is moved from the Global tab to the Local tab. It is now visible only to the automation where it is stored.

Note: Making a Global component Local can break automations that use the component. For example, Automation1 contains a Global component that you change to Local. Automation2 was using this component that is now exclusive to Automation1 – the automation where it is stored. This is indicated visually by the component block on automation2 displaying orange.

If you run a solution containing a component that is no longer available to an automation that is using it, you will receive a warning when the automation tries to use that component. To fix the automation, the component must be made Global again or a new component must be added to automation2.
